Cosmetic
dermal fillers are an essential tool to restore volume and symmetry to the
entire face. In combination with other treatments such as BOTOX,
and prescription skin care products,
dermal fillers enhance aesthetic results.
Many cosmetic
physicians, including Dr. Comeau, choose dermal fillers
such as Radiesse and Juvederm because they are not derived from animals and therefore
are longer lasting and have less chance of side effects.
What types of wrinkles do dermal
fillers treat?
Dermal fillers are ideal for smile
lines (lines extending from your nose to the corners of your mouth), marionette lines (the lines that extend from
the corner of your mouth down to your chin), oral commissure (corners of your mouth), pre-jowl, lips and even scars.
How long do dermal fillers last?
Typically dermal fillers last anywhere
from 4 months to a full year, depending on the product used and the
severity of the area treated. Over time, Dr. Comeau's patients
generally see the time in between treatments increase as their skin
becomes used to them.
How is a treatment performed?
During treatment, the
product is
injected into the skin in tiny amounts with a very fine needle. The
injection produces volume under the wrinkle, which is lifted up and
smoothed out. When enhancing lips or facial contours, dermal fillers add
volume and shape to the treated area.
